Hundreds of protesters gathered for Day 22 of Block Garcetti protests in front of the Los Angeles Mayor’s house, where they quickly learned that Joe Biden had instead placed Pete Buttigieg as the Secretary of Transportation. Many chants were used in celebration of the occasion, with protests halting from there.
French abolitionists gathered at the prison of Montbéliard, launching fireworks in solidarity with the inmates inside to let them know that eventually there will come a day when all of them are out of cages.
Greek anarchists in the Athens port neighborhood of Piraeus dropped a banner in front of the Holy Metropolitan’s quarters, demanding the church’s acquiescence to quarantine and the halting of potentially spreadable practices within the Orthodox Church, including communion and the giving of peace.
Protesters took to the streets across Chile, with hundreds of thousands gathering in Plaza Dignidad and other squares. Millions celebrated the replacement of the constitution that was created by the Pinochet regime in a historic plebiscite, which gained 78% of the vote in approval of a new constitution for the Chilean people. Many clashes with the police occurred, but no arrests did.
Around 50 protesters in Tunis marched to the Ministry of Commerce to demand food sovereignty and in support of agricultural workers’ protests against privatization and deregulation of the farming industry.
