Hundreds of protesters across Lebanon gathered to protest the Central Bank’s mishandling of hyperinflation and soaring gas prices in the country. Demonstrators blocked off roads, placing barricades, and burning tires to pressure the Lebanese government to act with competence on the problem.

Protesters gathered in Brownsville in North Brooklyn at the construction site of the NBK Fracked Gas Pipeline, demanding its shutdowns over concerns of pollution and harm to the quality of life to the majority-POC constituency of the neighborhoods of the area. Construction for the day was shut down, with the project moving forward despite the mayor of New York, Bill DeBlasio, expressing his opposition to the pipeline but not revoking the construction license.
Thousands of Peruvian farmers and farm workers went on strike for better wages and blockaded the Panamerican Highway, a key trading road. They state that salaries for farmers in Peru are unsurvivable and that the state must do more to help, with strikers marching from Ica.

Young Panamanians protested against President Laurentino Cortizo’s decision to exclude people less than 25 years old from the “solidarity voucher”, giving people $100 per month to alleviate the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial stress. Students blockaded several roads in response to the decision, including the Balboa and Cinco De Mayo avenues. Police responded by opening fire with rubber bullets and arresting several students, taking them to a police station, and later releasing them without torturing them in any form.
