Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Barranquilla in opposition to neoliberal policy in Colombia and the Tributary Reform, which would raise taxes on basic goods and services such as water, electricity, and internet bills, as well as the removal of government aid for lower-income workers.
Over 10000 protesters in Berlin gathered in Neukölln, demanding an immediate reversal to the overturning of a court ruling abolishing the Mietendeckel, a rent cap set to stop high prices and gentrification in the city. Police assaulted several demonstrators but were overpowered by the crowd and forced to retreat in due time.
Police attacked Abolish ICE demonstrators at the Bergen County facility who were protesting in solidarity with the prisoners inside performing a hunger strike. Cops were filmed targeting a black protester, then arresting him. The Ridgewood for Black Liberation organization later stated that he had been released, but sustained injuries during the assault by police.
Greek students’ and teachers’ unions blockaded the entrance of the Athens Polytechnic University, demanding the end of the plan to reintroduce police to university campuses. Blockades are expected to continue into the following days, with neither the Students’ Associations of the Athens Polytechnic or the NTUA Employees’ Union appearing to be willing to let up.
