Riots broke out in the Kasserine province city of Sbeitla, following the death of a protester of injuries sustained when a police officer shot at his head with a tear gas canister. Demonstrators set the police station on fire and launched firecrackers at police, demanding justice for their murdered comrade-in-arms.
Dozens of football ultras representing Original 21, PAOK, Gate 13, Gate 7, and Gate 3 took to the streets of Karditsa against the police and Michalis Chrisochoidis, the Minister of Citizen Protection of Greece, following the police brutality widely witnessed in the events of Nea Smyrni on the 9th of March.
Around 40 protesters in Xanthi took to the streets in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike, marching to the local office of the ruling right-wing New Democracy party and throwing paint at its entrance following the Prime Minister’s statement that Koufontinas’ request would not be accepted.
Dozens of youth protested at the town hall of the northeastern city of Akouda, waving anarchist flags and dropping banners to demand free and public education for all of Tunisia, using the phrase “You’ve fucked with the wrong generation” that became famous during the Arab Spring.
Protesters in Britain, the United States, Canada, and Italy turned out in almost a dozen cities, including Toronto, Baltimore, Raleigh, New York, Nashville, Houston, Glasgow, and Napoli. Attendance ranged from the dozens to the thousands, with protests taking up large swaths of city squares.
