After the resurgence of Chile Despierto protests in October, the Chilean government installed security forces in Plaza Dignidad in Santiago, which engaged in fierce clashes with anarchist protesters. The main city square was successfully taken by demonstrators on the 6th of November.
Over 100 protesters marched in Portland to demand justice for Ahmaud Arbery, a black man murdered by a former police officer in Georgia on the 23rd of February 2020. Demonstrators sang chants against police, prisons, and capitalism, calling for the fall of the prison-industrial complex.
On the 5th of October, at around 1 A.M., another demonstration took place against police, albeit far smaller. Police violently assaulted protesters, and then left after realizing that the situation would not escalate without their presence.
Thousands of protesters marched after police assaulted a student occupation of the rector’s office in the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, making dozens of arrests while using people out of uniform to attack students. The following march resulted in clashes with Molotov cocktails, firebombs, and tear gas deployed, causing the crowd to flee after the police assault.
