Chilean protesters gathered in Talcahuano to demand the resignation of right-wing President Sebastian Piñera and amnesty for all political prisoners of the 18th of October Uprising. Following through with the tradition of burning puppets of Piñera as they did on the 2020 New Years’ demonstrators lit a caricature of him on fire with gasoline.
The Golden Dawn, a Greek neo-Nazi organization and former party, was on trial on the 7th of October for several terror attacks against antifascists. Clashes occurred between police and protesters, with police eventually being pushed back from their zone of attack by several hundred anarchists. The largest rally had an attendance of over 50,000 people in front of Parliament.
Around 30 protesters gathered in Yangon in opposition to the military coup in the country, chanting slogans against the country’s army and in support of Myanmar’s civilian leader who was elected and in control of the government in the country’s first-ever democratic era.
About 150 protesters gathered in Chania in solidarity with the invaded Rosa Nera squat, chanting slogans in opposition to state repression during the pandemic, police brutality, and commercialization, as the Greek government seeks to make the squat into a public pool/spa. Demonstrators then marched to the Splantzia neighborhood before dispersing for the day.
