Puente Alto demonstrators gathered and banged pots and pans in front of the prison of the city for the freedom of political prisoners, to let those caged inside the facility that they were not alone. Dozens participated in the protest, starting at noon, which raised the attention of hundreds of prisoners and annoyed many guards.
Around 1,500 protesters took to the streets of El Salvador’s capital, against president Nayib Bukele and his policies of militarization, constitutional violations, and adopting Bitcoin as a national currency. Police blocked off the path to the Legislative Assembly, causing confrontations but no clashes or arrests occurred.
Around 1500-2000 demonstrators in Thessaloniki took to the streets in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike, demanding the government accept his request to be returned to his old cell at the Korydallos prison in Athens where he will be able to see visitors again.
Dozens of protesters in Rethymno marched against police repression in universities, enabled by the passing of a law through Parliament by the Ministry of Education which enabled police to re-enter university campuses for the first time since 1975.
Over 100 protesters in Heraklion marched in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike, demanding the immediate government satisfaction of the former 17 November member’s request to be returned to the Korydallos prison in Athens.
