Greek vegan anarchists in Athens gathered on New Year’s Eve to protest against speciesism and brutality on animals, by the form of mass confinement and murder for meat and other products. Demonstrators marched to Kato Patisia and Agios Nikolaos, dropping leaflets and shouting slogans in front of butchers and fishmongers. Before dispersing, a banner was dropped in the Cyprus park of Patision, after which the march ended.

Demonstrators then marched to Plaza Dignidad, where they were subjected to intense repression by police who used water cannons and tear gas on the crowd that had been peaceful until then.
Demonstrators in Abidjan, the economic capital and heartland of the Ivory Coast, protested against the acquisition of a third term by sitting President Alassane Ouattara. Clashes occurred between police and protesters, with many fires set as well.
