Thousands of students and other protesters in Thessaloniki marched in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike and demanded the repeal of a law passed allowing police into universities across Greece for the first time since the fall of the military dictatorship.

Hundreds of protesters in Tunis gathered to demand the release of jailed activists, an increase in living conditions and employment opportunities for youth and married women, who in recent times have been removed from the public recruitment list. Demonstrators marched from Ettadhamen, the poorest city in the capital, waving signs with socialist slogans, red stars, and anarchist symbols.
Greek vegan anarchists in Athens gathered on New Year’s Eve to protest against speciesism and brutality on animals, by the form of mass confinement and murder for meat and other products. Demonstrators marched to Kato Patisia and Agios Nikolaos, dropping leaflets and shouting slogans in front of butchers and fishmongers. Before dispersing, a banner was dropped in the Cyprus park of Patision, after which the march ended.

Haitians took to the streets all over Port-au-Prince in the thousands on the 17th to protest against the allegedly corrupt regime of Jovenel Moise. Demonstrators set up barricades, and clashed with police, with several dozens of injuries but no deaths.
