The Case of Dimitris Koufontinas

Dimitris Koufontinas was a former member of the 17 November left-wing urban guerilla in Greece, who was arrested in the early 2000s and sentenced to life. Koufontinas spent 16 years in his cell at the Korydallos prison in Athens, until he was abducted and taken to a high-security facility away from where his family resided. Koufontinas promptly went on a hunger strike on the 8th of January and has remained alive without giving in until his demands are accepted.

Dimitris Koufontinas ended his hunger strike on the 14th of March, following dozens of demonstrations lasting for months in solidarity with his struggle.
