Panamerican Blockade Continues in Peru Amid Fears of Police Crackdown

Peruvian police began to move on the way to Ica, to unblock the southern Panamerican highway known as a vital trading road in Peru with seen marching on the highway to Ica from Chincha.

The Panamerican Farmer blockade/strike had been going on for 2 days, blocking the Panamerican highway for higher wages and other labor protection laws for agro-exporters and other agrarian industries. It was also formulated in opposition to pro-business and privatization laws introduced by the government.

Police mostly failed to carry out repression, with the strikes growing and demonstrators now placing a bus on the front of the barricades.
