Agricultural workers made the decision to renew the protest following the failure of Congress to reach an agreement to reform the sector and address concerns over insufficient pay.

Blockades of the Panamerican highway in Peru by farmers continued amid fears of a government crackdown as police began to march from Chincha to Ica, the center of the strikes against pro-business laws and deregulation of the agro-exporting business.
Thousands of farmers continued to gather at Ica, burning barricades in the Panamerican highway and effectively shutting down most travel in Peru. The cities of Parcona, San José de Los Molinos District, Santiago, Tate, and Pachacútec all had their access roads blocked, and Lima remained shut off from the rest of the country. Workers from the province of Pisco also went on strike, joining the Panamerican blockade in Ica.
Thousands of Peruvian farmers and farm workers went on strike for better wages and blockaded the Panamerican Highway, a key trading road. They state that salaries for farmers in Peru are unsurvivable and that the state must do more to help, with strikers marching from Ica.
Protesters in Peru have been hit by shocking brutality from government forces, with helicopters filmed throwing tear gas from above. On the 3rd day of demonstrations in Peru, government forces attacked protesters and press alike, injuring at least 26 members of the press and killing an untold number of protesters, with at least 1 confirmed death. Tens of thousands had gathered in Plaza San Martín, the center of the capital of the country in front of Parliament to denounce the removal of President Vizcarra. Undercover policemen were also spotted and exposed in Lima.
Protesters across Peru have continued to take to the streets across the country for a second day, with demonstrations and marches concentrated in Lima and Miraflores. Demonstrators call for the resignation of interim-President Merino and the re-institution of former President Vizcarra.
