Antifascist counterprotesters arrived to counter a MAGA caravan scheduled to go through New York City, which ended up fleeing upstate. The NYPD assaulted protesters, and arrested a journalist as well as 17 demonstrators. Up to 30 out of the 300 protesters were injured, although the protest achieved its original goal of diverting the rally.

About 150 protesters marched on the ICE facility in Portland to demand the immediate abolition of the agency, which new President Biden has expressed his opposition to doing. Demonstrators were horrifically attacked with chemical weapons and munitions, including tear gas, pepper balls, TC gas (a deadlier form of tear gas and possible carcinogen), and many other forms of assault.
Running battles continued in the northeastern French city of Tourcoing after a police operation resulted in the seizure of motorcycles used for urban derbies. Youths and police kept a constant exchange of fireworks and tear gas as engagements moved throughout the city, also resulting in several dumpsters catching fire.
Over 100 protesters gathered in Montreal to demand the end of curfew during the pandemic, calling for a solution to the crisis not involving police. Many involved in the march made it clear that they were pro-science, pro-mask, and pro-vaccine, but that using police to raid people’s homes and ensure that they were following quarantine is tyrannical.
Protesters in Hackensack, New Jersey returned to the Bergen County Jail for a daily noise demo in solidarity with undocumented immigrants caged inside, who have been detained by authorities for months and only recently halted a hunger strike.
