Chilean protesters in Longotoma at the Ruta 5 Norte of La Ligua barricaded roads in response to the Ministry of the Environment withdrawing the Supreme Decree that placed the Salinas de Pullaly wetland and Longotoma dunes as a nature sanctuary. This would allow businesses to destroy and pollute the habitat of thousands of species.
Protesters in Zurich, Switzerland, gathered in solidarity with Dimitris Koufontinas, a former member of the 17 November left-wing urban guerilla who entered a hunger strike on the 8th of January to demand his return to the old Korydallos prison in Athens, where he will once again be able to see his family.
Dozens of protesters in Beirut clashed with police in front of the Military Courts of Lebanon, demanding the release of all demonstrators imprisoned during the Tripoli uprising that followed a collapse in living conditions and a 24-hour quarantine & ban on work in the area.
Anarchists gathered at the ESEIA (Journalists’ Union of the Athens Daily Newspapers) office in solidarity with the hunger strike of the former N17 member Dimitris Koufontinas, which began on the 8th of January to demand his transfer to the Korydallos prison in Athens where he will be able to see visitors and receive better medical care.
Police have not killed anyone more since the September 12th update, but ~50 more injuries have occurred as well as several dozen arrests. Protesters are consolidating their areas of control over Bogota, and are still in the streets in Bucaramanga and Medellin. Protests have also been sparked by allegations of sexual violence against arrested women in Bogota.
