Protesters took to the streets in Lima following the impeachment of Martín Vizcarra, the standing president of Peru, who was removed by a vote of 105 to 25 by Parliament on charges of corruption. Thousands of demonstrators clashed with police in the center of Lima, the capital. He had however been popularized for his work with copper exports, and a majority of people sympathized with him over a parliament seen as far more corrupt.
