Dozens of metro workers took to the streets to demand better pay and working conditions, with subways completely cramped with commuters despite Chile’s pandemic cases reaching a peak. Demonstrators blocked roads and took the sides of metros, demanding economic justice.

Thousands of farmers continued to gather at Ica, burning barricades in the Panamerican highway and effectively shutting down most travel in Peru. The cities of Parcona, San José de Los Molinos District, Santiago, Tate, and Pachacútec all had their access roads blocked, and Lima remained shut off from the rest of the country. Workers from the province of Pisco also went on strike, joining the Panamerican blockade in Ica.
