Protesters in Portland met at Revolution Hall on what would have been George Floyd’s 47th birthday to commemorate his life and the movement that formed after him. Demonstrators gave Floyd’s cousin balloons, which they promptly released into the air while chanting ‘George Floyd’.
Protesters burned barricades and blocked roads at the Mar Mikhaël Church at the Medawar district of Beirut, demanding an increase in living conditions following the Beirut explosion. The military made several arrests at the site and forcefully reopened the area after detaining those present.
Hundreds of insurgents and protesters across the indigenous region of Araucania in Chile carried out sabotage actions and demonstrations against forestal machinery and exploitation of ancestral Mapuche land, demanding its immediate handing over to the original tribes and families who inhabited it, many of who still exist displaced today.
Anarchists protested alongside striking medical workers at the Evangelismos hospital in Athens, demanding food, housing, education, and healthcare for all, a stance also approved by many doctors’ unions. Demonstrators also distributed flyers and hung a banner at the facility’s fence.
Dozens of protesters gathered in Seattle for an indigenous-led march to demand the abolition of ICE and stop all deportations of undocumented immigrants in the United States. Although police trailed the demonstration, no arrests were made and protesters dispersed peacefully.
