Hundreds of protesters turned out for Black Lives for a 132nd day, going through Lake Oswego; one of the wealthiest in the entire Portland metro area. A few counterprotesters arrived, but paling in comparison to the more than 500 people who turned out for the march.
Thousands of protesters in Cali took to the streets for a 4th consecutive day as part of a general strike in Colombia, opposing new tax hikes on basic goods and services as well as the privatization of healthcare. Police responded with brutal repression, opening fire with live rounds and attacking peaceful demonstrations at multiple sites across the city.
Chileans gathered in Santiago to protest against the violations of human rights by the state of Chile, carrying signs of eyes whose pupils reflected images of state torture. Demonstrators chanted and carried a slogan on a banner saying “The eyes of the people accuse the terrorist state,” demanding the resignation of President Piñera.
Dozens of protesters gathered in Paris in solidarity with migrants being evicted from their camp by the French police, with many being assaulted, a journalist among them. Police violently tore up tents as protesters chanted ‘No Justice, No Peace!’ After police exited the area, activists and migrants cheered them off, before returning to tear-gas and attack activists and refugees.
