Thousands of demonstrators across Iran took to the streets against the Islamic Republic government and the Ayatollah, in a movement sparked by water shortages in the Arab province of Khuzestan. Police deployed live rounds against protesters, killing one, and crowds in several areas bombed police cars, burned tanks, and destroyed security cameras.
Demonstrators in Santiago gathered at an office of the Independent Democratic Union, a far-right Pinochetist party in Chile, leaving graffiti and anti-fascist banners; the crowd then moved to a monument to Jaime Guzmán, the creator of Pinochet’s constitution, also leaving graffiti. A protest would later also occur in the peripheral neighborhood of La Granja in support of political prisoners of the 18th of October Uprising in 2019.
Protesters in the Swazi town of Mafutseni took to the streets against the monarchy of Eswatini and in support of the nation’s Communist Party, demanding democracy and socialism. Demonstrators decried the King’s refusal to acknowledge petitions submitted previously, as well as his dictatorial rule over the country.
