The Misak tribe is a tribe from Western Colombia (Cauca Department), which attended the Minga 2020 protests in which 150,000 indigenous people demonstrated against the government. The Misak occupied the El Dorado airport in Bogota in protest against the massacres committed by government-backed paramilitaries against indigenous and poor people.
Around 1,500 protesters took to the streets of El Salvador’s capital, against president Nayib Bukele and his policies of militarization, constitutional violations, and adopting Bitcoin as a national currency. Police blocked off the path to the Legislative Assembly, causing confrontations but no clashes or arrests occurred.
Hundreds of students and teachers in Athens gathered to protest against a law proposed by the New Democracy government, which would reintroduce police to campuses for the first time since 1975. During confrontations with police, demonstrators locked arms together and managed to avoid any arrests occurring despite the heavy presence of MAT riot cops.
Hundreds of Haitians in Port-au-Prince returned to the streets to demand the resignation of imperialist-backed dictatorial leader Jovenel Moise, who dissolved Parliament in 2019 and remains the sole leader of the government despite mass demonstrations against his rule. Police cracked down on protests, also launching tear gas into a truck filled with journalists.
