Hundreds of protesters gathered in the Athens suburb of New Smyrna, or Nea Smyrni, following an incident of police brutality in which an officer brutally beat a civilian under the guise of enforcing COVID restrictions. Police proceeded to attack the demonstration with tear gas, which reportedly leaked into the homes of civilians and into trams.
Protesters unfurled a banner in front of the Portland ICE facility, condemning the organization and its practices as genocidal and harmful towards migrants coming through the border from Mexico. The camps have long been remarked as concentration camps for horrible treatment of detainees and poor sanitation.
Thousands of protesters gathered in Nantes against the Global Security Law’s rewriting by the National Assembly, demanding that the law banning the filming of police be thrown out altogether. Police tear-gassed the demonstration and deployed water cannons, leading to widespread clashes and several injuries.
