Hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Tarragona to demand freedom for Pablo Hasel, a left-wing rapper from Catalonia arrested and facing charges for insulting the Bourbon royal family of Spain. Demonstrators clashed with police, who fired tear gas in response to the placing of barricades by youth.
Dozens of protesters gathered at the 4D precinct in Washington D.C. to protest against the fact that the killer of Karon Hylton was reinstated, and was seen cruising around a gathering of teenagers. Hylton’s mother was then arrested by the MPD and later released.
Mapuche indigenous militants placed barricades on the Cunco-Huichahue Route in the Araucania region in opposition of the militarization of Wallmapu, the traditional homeland of Chile’s indigenous people.
Over 100 Portlanders returned to the weekly march for Patrick Kimmons, a black man killed by police in 2018, whose mother has led marches every week since July demanding the reopening of the case. Cheers of support came from many neighbors, and the police also were notified of the march when it came around to their precinct. Letha Winston (Kimmons’ mother) then stopped the march, led chants, and gave speeches regarding updates on the case.
Anarchists in Chile set barricades on the Maipo road in the Los Guindos neighborhood in the Santiago metropolitan region, in remembrance of Jorge Mora “Neko”, who was run over by a police car on the outskirts of the Monumental stadium during a football riot on January 28th. Demonstrators unfurled a banner demanding revenge for Neko & Ariel Moreno, who was shot and killed by police during a riot in Neko’s honor the day after his murder.
