Hundreds of protesters gathered outside of the United Nations to demand an end to the war on Tigray, a northern breakaway province of Ethiopia that has been invaded and subject to thousands of civilian deaths, with human rights organizations blocked from entering the area.
Dozens of protesters took to the streets of Antofagasta to demand the immediate release of all prisoners of the social uprising that began in 2019 as well as to demand the resignation of right-wing President Sebastian Piñera. Demonstrators threw Molotov cocktails and fireworks at police and burned barricades, shutting down areas of the city before later dispersing with no arrests made.
A special march was planned for Day 136 of the Louisville Protests on the 10th of October, marching through the center of Louisville to commemorate the murder of Breonna Taylor and its consequences across the world. Many took the chance to condemn the information found showing that the grand jury was not presented with murder charges upon which to indict the officers involved in her murder.
Hundreds of protesters in Miami gathered at the Torch of Friendship in solidarity with a national uprising in Colombia, against corruption, inequality, and police violence. Demonstrators called for the end of US arms sales to the Colombian military and the halting of support to the nation’s operations.
