Hundreds of protesters in the illegally built city of Ettadhamen in greater Tunis returned to the streets to demand redistribution of wealth and divestment from the police state towards more social programs to aid the people during and after the coronavirus pandemic. Tear gas was deployed in the neighborhood but failed to stop a rush of anger from the youth who came back out on the streets to throw rocks at the National Guard.
Families of killed & injured protesters during the Arab Spring and the new uprising also gathered at Liberty Avenue & Bourguiba Avenue in central Tunis in support of demonstrations across the country, and were attacked with tear gas by riot police, forcing many activists to seek shelter inside civilian stores. Multiple clashes also occurred in other smaller cities, but demonstrations by now had begun to concentrate in Ettadhamen and Tunis.
