The friends, family, and allies of Bastián Campos, a political prisoner sentenced on the 25th of November 2019, gathered at the Plaza Colón in Antofagasta to demand his release along with the mothers of several other political prisoners in the city.
Hundreds of protesters gathered in the cities of Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haïtien to demand the resignation of President Jovenel Moise, whose mandate is seen by many as illegal, as, by the public, he is seen as an imperialist-backed dictator who funds paramilitaries to keep the streets clean of opposition. Demonstrators burned American flags in condemnation of the country’s support of Moise, calling for democratic elections and a free press.
Hundreds of Thai protesters returned to the streets of Bangkok, demanding the end of the monarchy and the resignation of Prime Minister Prayut, a general who assumed power in a coup in 2014 and is widely held responsible for the lack of access to COVID vaccines. Police repressed the protest, leading to clashes throughout the day.
