50 Portland protesters gathered at Laurelhurst Park, a homeless camp, to demonstrate against a planned sweep for that day. Many say that as the winter has set in, the consequences for evicting the houseless at this time could be deadly. The Portland Police Bureau arrived later in the day to announce that the sweep would not happen on the 10th as intended; protesters then began to organize and serve free hot meals to those living in the encampment.
