Hundreds of students and other protesters in Barcelona marched to demand amnesty and freedom for Pablo Hasel, a left-wing Catalan rapper imprisoned and facing charges for criticizing the Spanish monarchy.
Dozens of protesters in the Bonilla neighborhood of Antofagasta burned barricades to demand the release of the political prisoners of Chile’s social uprising that began in 2019, also demanding the complete dissolution of the Carabinero national police force.
Black Lives Matter demonstrators turned out in the hundreds to protest brutality in the local Providence Police Department, which similar to most, has suffered criticism of its handling and discrimination towards people of color and minorities. No major clashes with police occurred.
Thousands of partygoers gathered in Huntington Beach, in Los Angeles, after organizing online, dubbing the event ‘Adrian’s Kickback’. Participants blocked roads and threw fireworks at police vehicles, with many jumping on and damaging police cruisers. Over 150 people were arrested, charged with a wide variety of offenses.
