The University of Manchester Rent Strike, which has gone on for weeks in the United Kingdom, dropped banners condemning the university’s refusal for negotiation with the striking students. It demanded the police leave the campus and that the university suspend rent as well as putting students and staff before making profits.
Around 1000 protesters took to the streets in 3 sites across Berlin on the 1st anniversary of the Hanau Massacre, a mass shooting perpetrated by a member of the far-right who targeted shisha bars and murdered 11 people.
Hundreds of protesters marched in the Plaza Brasil of Santiago demanding the release of political prisoners of the 18th of October Uprising. Barricades were also placed in Puente Alto to shut down roads. Later in the day, a bikers’ march occurred demanding the resignation of Chilean President Sebastian Piñera and amnesty for all political prisoners.
Demonstrators across Santiago placed roadblocks and burned barricades on the 3rd anniversary of the inauguration of Sebastian Piñera, the widely despised president of Chile infamous for instituting privatization and many neoliberal policies throughout his term.
Dozens of protesters in Thessaloniki marched in solidarity with former 17 November member Dimitris Koufontinas, who entered a hunger strike on the 8th of January to demand his transfer to the Korydallos prison in Athens, where he would be able to see visitors and receive adequate medical care.
