Thousands of protesters in the city of Armenia took to the streets in opposition to neoliberal policy and the Tributary Reform in Colombia, which would impose new taxes on basic goods and services including bills for utilities, as well as cutting government aid to low-income workers and households.
Protesters in 2 sites in Athens gathered to protest against the incursion by police into Athens Polytechnic university and the arrest of more than a dozen occupiers of the university. The Polytechnic University in Athens had previously outlawed the presence of police on campus, and many wonder what justification will be cited for bringing them in.
Dozens of protesters clashed with Carabineros in the central coastal city of Valparaíso in Chile, during a demonstration on the anniversary of the police murder of Neco Moras & Ariel Moreno during a football game in 2020. Extreme amounts of tear gas were deployed, in response to which protesters threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at armored vehicles.
Hundreds of protesters in Santiago took to the streets to demand the release of all political prisoners of Chile’s social uprising which began in 2019, as well as the resignation of right-wing President Sebastian Piñera. Police arrived with newly made militarized gear, including a tank never seen before, and furnished armored vehicles, one of which was used to drive into a demonstrator.
