Tens of thousands of protesters returned to the streets across Algeria on the 2nd anniversary of the national Hirak movement’s birth, calling for the fall of the military establishment and chanting slogans in support of the indigenous Berber movement.
Around 50 protesters marched in Rancagua as part of a national mobilization demanding justice for the murder of a Panguipulli street juggler by Chilean police, known as Carabineros. Protesters blocked roads and burnt barricades in the city, disrupting activity and shutting down the main highway out of the Rancagua.
Hundreds of protesters marched in Seattle for a joint Black Lives Matter & Cancel Rent protest, demanding that all unpaid rent during the pandemic be forgiven due to the economic hardship in the United States. Organizers also demanded the abolition of the Seattle Police Department, well-known for its brutality.
Protesters in Portland took to the streets on the night of October 10th, and were arrested after mere minutes of the demonstration starting. About 20 were arrested, many of which were marked street medics. There was no unlawful assembly declared, so it is unclear what charges are being filed.
Hundreds of protesters in Manchester returned to the streets for a 2nd time to demand the repeal of a law passed which would increase police powers and restrict the right for assembly and demonstration, which would set caps on noisemaking and many other restrictions on free speech.
