Dozens of protesters in Seattle gathered for a Black Lives Still Matter march, led by black abolitionists demanding the abolition of the SPD and ICE. Protesters sang chants against SPD, police, ICE, and prisons, blocking roads in order to disrupt activity as much as possible.
Around 150-200 protesters in Philadelphia took to the streets to demand justice for Daunte Wright, an unarmed black man murdered by police in Brooklyn Center, Minneapolis. Demonstrators blocked traffic and moved through the city center before dispersing without arrests made.
Protesters took to the streets again for Karon Hylton, whose family members have also repeatedly been attacked by police. At least 10 protesters were arrested, and a cousin of Hylton was among them. No police were injured during the protest.
Dozens of protesters participated in the everyday Black Lives Matter morning march in Seattle, demanding a 100% cut to the SPD’s budget and reinvestment towards the poorer communities of the city. Demonstrators also pursue amnesty for all political prisoners of the George Floyd Uprising and the halting of the construction of a youth jail.
