Dozens of Tunisian Youth in Tataouine block roads to protest against Government inaction

Dozens of Young People in the Tunisian southern city of Tataouine have set up roadblocks and marched against promised government action for employment in the marginalized region.
The unemployment rate in Tataouine currently stands at around 30%, one of the highest in the country.

In July of 2020, protesters managed to get into an oil production facility and to close a pipeline, which transported half of Tunisia’s oil. This forced the government to make concessions and promise investments in the region, but nothing serious has been done to fulfill such commitments.
