On the 4th of October, a small group of Patriot Prayer members held an anti-BLM rally in Portland. Counterprotestors quickly arrived, with confrontations but no major fights occurring until the slightly larger BLM counterprotest pushed the right-wing group out of the city. Patriot Prayer was heavily armed with assault weapons as well.
Hundreds of students and teachers in Athens gathered to protest against a law proposed by the New Democracy government, which would reintroduce police to campuses for the first time since 1975. During confrontations with police, demonstrators locked arms together and managed to avoid any arrests occurring despite the heavy presence of MAT riot cops.
Thousands of Chilean health workers and their allies took to the streets in Santiago, demanding the immediate resignation of President Piñera and his government as well as a bonus for hospitals and workers to help contain the coronavirus pandemic. Other unions also took part in the march, which was backed up later in the day by national blockades and bikers’ protests.
Protesters gathered in Seattle for a vigil and march for Tamir Rice, a 12-year-old murdered by police in 2014; it was decided that day that federal charges would not be laid against his murderers. Demonstrators then marched on Marion Street, and were attacked by police who made several arrests.
