Bikers rode all the way from Plaza Dignidad in Santiago to the National Mint against the current administration of Sebastian Piñera and the lack of condemnation for the 48 killed since the October Rebellion of late 2019. Attendance numbered at about 2-3,000 people.
Hundreds of protesters in the Santiago district of Providencia gathered in opposition to SENAME, the Chilean national minors’ service, widely despised for abuses towards children left in their custody, as 1,313 people had died in their custody between 2005 and 2016. Police attacked the demonstration, deploying water cannons and tear gas.
Dozens of protesters in Antofagasta took to the streets demanding the resignation of president Sebastian Piñera, famous for exacerbating disastrous neoliberal policies in Chile. Demonstrators also called for the abolition of the country’s national police force, the Carabineros, long marred by accusations of human rights abuses.
Protesters in Dahour Al-Abadiyeh were attacked by the military of Lebanon, who cleared the town’s road and assaulted demonstrators decrying government incompetence in handling hyperinflation and soaring gas prices.
