Lebanese demonstrators blocked the Eliah intersection in Beirut and the Khaldeh highway, placing barricades and burning tires to protest the government’s mishandling of hyperinflation and soaring gas prices.
Hundreds of protesters gathered for a People’s March near the Minnesota governor’s mansion in St. Paul, demanding “Cash not covid”, “Community not cops”, “People not pipelines”, and “Politics without Proud Boys”. Dozens of protesters in the La Pincoya neighborhood of Santiago returned to the streets against the neoliberal police state of Chile after brutal repression in a previous round of demonstrations. Police returned with water cannons and tear gas, gassing the residential neighborhood and its public spaces including a playground.
Thousands of protesters in Manizales gathered on the 4th day of demonstrations against the privatization of hospitals and the increase in taxes on basic goods and services in Colombia. Protesters knocked down the status of conservative fascist politician Gilberto Alzate Avendaño, before being attacked and tear-gassed by police, thinning out the crowd and starting clashes across the city.
