Dozens of protesters returned to the streets of Elizabeth City for a 9th day, demanding justice for Andrew Brown, a black man killed by police officers with assault rifles. Despite police arriving in the dozens with riot gear, protesters did not respond and dispersed without caving to the aggression presented by law enforcement.
Hundreds of protesters in Minneapolis took to the streets 3 weeks after the police murder of Daunte Wright in Brooklyn Center, marching to the suburb’s local police station. Demonstrators put up the name of Wright on the police station’s fence and were met by little to no law enforcement presence, a notable turn from other protests in the area.
Young Panamanians protested against President Laurentino Cortizo’s decision to exclude people less than 25 years old from the “solidarity voucher”, giving people $100 per month to alleviate the COVID-19 pandemic’s financial stress. Students blockaded several roads in response to the decision, including the Balboa and Cinco De Mayo avenues. Police responded by opening fire with rubber bullets and arresting several students, taking them to a police station, and later releasing them without torturing them in any form.
Ove 300 bikers sat-in El Parrón, demonstrating against a lack of regulations against drivers when driving near bikers, dozens of whom have been killed in recent weeks. Protesters joined the national bikers’ strike going on to pressure the government to change its measures and attitude towards the situation.
