Dozens of anarchists in the Clapham Town of London took over a police station, resisting eviction and seeking to turn the squat into a site of social organization.
Thousands of protesters continued in the streets of Guatemala City for another round of demonstrations against the government of President Alejandro Giammattei, demanding the resignation of both him and the Minister of the Interior, who appeared to have given the orders for police brutality against protesters. Protesters clashed with police near the end of the demonstration, prompting the deployment of tear gas and later dispersement.
Tens of thousands of protesters demonstrated across Guatemala against government corruption and a budget plan that took away from the poorest and gave to the richest of the country. Over 40 arrests occurred nationally, with hundreds more injured. Demonstrations took place in Guatemala City, Quetzaltenango, and Huehuetenango.
Around 400 protesters in Ciudad de Este gathered and blocked a highway with burning barricades to demand the resignation of President Marito Abdo, widely held responsible for corruption resulting in the disappearance of $1.6 billion from Paraguay’s healthcare budget, causing a collapse in infrastructure as hospitals were overwhelmed and forced to cut back on resources.
