Police Open Fire at Feminist Protesters With Live Rounds in Cancún

Demonstrators gathered outside of the Office of Human Rights in Cancún, setting fires and spray-painting street art. Riot police arrived at night, and opened fire with live rounds at protesters, injuring 3 with bullets and wounding dozens of activists and reporters with batons.

Bianca “Alexis” Lorenzana went missing in Cancún for several days, and her dismembered body was found. She became the figure of a growing feminist movement in a country that has for decades been afflicted by femicides.
