Hundreds of protesters marched in Athens in support of free speech and assembly on university campuses, which has been placed under threat by the possibility of police being restored to universities for the first time since 1975. Police followed the protesting students into a park with small children, forcing everyone out of the area in riot gear.
Hundreds of protesters gathered in the city of Hillah in a much larger demonstration than that of the previous day’s to demand the end of corruption in Iraq, as well as increased employment opportunities sponsored by the government. A police presence remained absent, as most riot forces were deployed to Nasiriyah and Baghdad.
Dozens of protesters marched in Santiago to demand that the government halt pension cuts as well as pay them out to elderly people who are also houseless, who have been widely excluded from receiving social benefits.
