Dozens of protesters were arrested at the office of the ruling New Democracy Party in Moschato, Athens, demonstrating in solidarity with Dimitris Koufontinas, a former member of the leftist urban guerilla 17 November who entered a hunger strike on the 8th of January to demand his transfer to the Korydallos prison, where he will be able to see visitors again.
Protesters demonstrated against the military government that took control after the protests that toppled the old leader. Many say that they simply took over to take power for themselves, not to pass the reforms that people wanted. The response towards protests has only validated the opinion that the military dictatorship will not cooperate with the people.
French anarchists in Albi threw fireworks outside of the Cantepau jail, clashing with police who threw tear gas and ended up contributing to the point of the noise demo. The abolitionists called for the release of all inmates due to COVID, as prisoners had been increasingly exposed to the virus in many countries.
