Over 1000 students in Thessaloniki marched against police brutality and the government’s management of COVID-19, with hospitals filling up as the healthcare system in Greece becomes quickly overwhelmed in spite of overfunded law enforcement and armed forces in the country.
An Abolish Homelessness demonstration was held at ~3:00 P.M. in New York, around 53rd St. and 7th Ave. The goals of the protesters were to house the homeless with the empty hotels that exist all around the city, with no guests amid the COVID-19 pandemic. 11 protesters were arrested inside of the Sheraton hotel, and are expected to be released later.
Hundreds of engineers, teachers, and students went on strike to demand the fall of the Myanmar military regime that installed itself in a coup on the 1st of February. Demonstrators gathered at the Monywa University of Economics, Kan Gyi Dauk, MOALI, Pyay University, Yadanapon University, and Dawei, consisting of university students, civil servants, and professors.
Hundreds of Irish protesters gathered in Balbriggan, north of Dublin, against the murder of George Nkencho by the Gardaí. Demonstrators called for a criminal investigation into the officer who shot the 27-year-old Nigerian immigrant 5 times, as well as the halting of the practice of police taking down protesters’ names.
