Around 2000 protesters in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district of Berlin marched against the eviction of the Meuterei cooperative, one of the last affordable bars in the city and a place of leftist organization in the FH-KB area of Berlin. Police attacked the demonstration near the end of the march’s course, making several brutal arrests and attacking random people.
Thousands of protesters in Santiago gathered for a day of national mobilization to demand amnesty for all political prisoners and the resignation of President Sebastian Piñera. Carabinero riot police attacked the demonstrations with excessive force, but failed to properly disperse the protesters who were marching in multiple separate locations and methods, both on foot and on bike.
Hundreds of Chileans gathered in Santiago to protest against state terror perpetrated on Mapuche indigenous communities, after the family of an activist murdered by police was beaten and arrested at a border checkpoint. Demonstrators successfully repulsed Carabineros using water cannons, and held the central Plaza Dignidad for hours on end.
