Anarchists in Exarchia, Athens, took to the streets demanding amnesty for the political prisoners arrested during the December 6 protests on the anniversary of the murder of 15-year-old Alexandros Grigoropoulos. They began a protest at his murder site and later marched out in the dozens demanding charges be dropped against the arrested the day before. Delta riot police responded by chasing the tail of the protest and arrested several.
Protesters took to the streets to denounce the grand jury ruling of the Breonna Taylor case, and continue to go out for Daniel Prude, who was murdered by police earlier in the 4th Civil Rights Movement.
About 40 protesters gathered in front of the Trump International Hotel in New York City against the violence in Washington and the attempted insurrection by Trump supporters. Demonstrators held letters spelling “TRUMP IS GUILTY”, demanding his resignation; police then attacked the protest, making several arrests against the completely peaceful crowd in a seemingly harsher crackdown than against the insurrectionaries at the Capitol.
Protesters in Malmö, Sweden, dropped a banner in solidarity with Dimitris Koufontinas, a former member of the left-wing revolutionary group 17 November, who entered a hunger strike on the 8th of January to demand his transfer to the Korydallos prison in Athens, where he would receive adequate medical care and access to visitors.
