Police Attack Hundreds in Santiago Protesting Against SENAME

Hundreds of protesters in the Santiago district of Providencia gathered in opposition to SENAME, the Chilean national minors’ service, widely despised for abuses towards children left in their custody, as 1,313 people had died in their custody between 2005 and 2016. Police attacked the demonstration, deploying water cannons and tear gas.
