Around 300 protesters in Frankfurt marched after a 19-year-old Iraqi refugee died in a hospital after being arrested for possession of marijuana. While in custody, Qosay Sadam Khalaf “collapsed” in his cell and was taken to a hospital, where he ended up dying. Police attacked the demonstration, kicking and punching protesters without provocation.
Protesters in 2 sites in Athens gathered to protest against the incursion by police into Athens Polytechnic university and the arrest of more than a dozen occupiers of the university. The Polytechnic University in Athens had previously outlawed the presence of police on campus, and many wonder what justification will be cited for bringing them in.
The Notimex Workers’ Union in Mexico City entered the 307th day of the strike that began with allegations of labor terrorism, human rights violations, contempt of workers’ rights laws, and, eventually, exposures of workers to COVID-19. Strikers stated their willingness to negotiate with the corporation, but have not received any word back.
Dozens of protesters in Seattle gathered for a march to the office of the SPOG (Seattle Police Officer’s Guild) police union, demanding the city halt any funding for it. As the sun went dark, a truck attempted to run over demonstrators, before being stopped by the SPD who also surrounded the black bloc.
