Bikers took to the streets to protest against a lack of government oversight on the protection of cyclists, who have been killed in the dozens in recent weeks. Demonstrators took Plaza Dignidad and other areas of the city including the Alameda but clashed in significant street battles with police and government forces.
Dozens of protesters gathered in the Athens neighborhood of Petralona in remembrance of Shehzad Luqman, a migrant worker from Pakistan who was stabbed to death in 2013 on his way to work by 2 supporters of the Greek neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn. Despite police harassing the protesters, the march went forward and no arrests were made.
McDonalds workers in Chicago went on strike to demand a $15 minimum wage, an increase in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and a union for all. McDonalds and its franchises have been widely criticized for their union-busting practices, which sometimes are harsher than many other multinational corporations.
