Protests Erupt in Paris Amid Government Passing of Global Security Law

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in support of refugees and against the Global Security Law at the Place de la République in the center of Paris, with clashes with police going on later in the day. The anarchist Black Robe Brigade participated, with protesters climbing onto the central statue.

Protesters later began to march in Turbigo against police violence against migrants and people of color, setting fires and ultimately falling to a crackdown leading to the arrest of dozens, after being forced back to the Place de la République, chanting “Solidarité avec les sans papiers”, or “Solidarity with the undocumented”.
