50 people in Washington D.C. turned out to a protest that demanded justice for Karon Hylton. Their goals were the defunding of the police and the arrest of the officers who murdered Hylton. No clashes occurred with police, although several confrontations did.
Dozens of protesters gathered at the Brickell City Center in Miami to protest against Florida Governor DeSantis’ riot bill, demanding the end of the law that could penalize participating in an unlawful assembly as a felony, and could also pardon drivers who run over protesters blocking a road.
Hundreds of taxi drivers went on strike in Cúcuta, blocking roads to protest against the privatization of healthcare and police violence amid a general strike. Despite a military presence in the city, the workers remained undeterred and continued to block roads for hours.
Dozens of protesters continued demonstrations in St. Paul after the nonfatal shooting of a black man by 4 police officers, stating that other methods of de-escalation should have been used. Demonstrators marched to the still-barricaded St. Paul Police Department headquarters, with speakers including Soren Stevenson who lost an eye after being shot with a rubber bullet by Minneapolis PD.
St. Paul protesters marched against fascism in the former Sears lot that was recently bought by agencies to train for protest response. The city stated that it had responded to over 220 protests in 2020, and the number is expected to continue increasing as economic and social hardship grip the United States.
