Thousands of Indian Farmers Clash With Police Over Anti-Farming Laws

Thousands of farmers attempted to march to the Indian capital as part of their occupy protest against new laws passed by the BJP right-wing government that they say will curb their earnings and benefit big corporations. Police in Haryana deployed tear gas and used water cannons to disperse the farmers who attempted to march on New Delhi on foot.

The farmers eventually managed to break through police lines at 3 sites, in response to which the borders of New Delhi have been sealed and metro services have been cut off.
