Thousands of protesters returned to the streets of Barcelona for a 4th consecutive day to demand the release of Pablo Hasel, a communist Catalan rapper imprisoned and facing charges for criticizing the Spanish monarchy. Demonstrators clashed with police, placing and burning barricades in many areas across the city after confrontations began to occur.
Anarchists in Bern dropped a banner in solidarity with the Koufontinas hunger strike outside of the Greek consulate in Switzerland, also throwing several firecrackers at the ambassador’s home to demand the immediate satisfaction of the former 17 November member’s request to be returned to the Korydallos prison.
Greek students’ and teachers’ unions blockaded the entrance of the Athens Polytechnic University, demanding the end of the plan to reintroduce police to university campuses. Blockades are expected to continue into the following days, with neither the Students’ Associations of the Athens Polytechnic or the NTUA Employees’ Union appearing to be willing to let up.
Hundreds of protesters took to the streets across Santiago during protests on the anniversary of the police murder of Neco Mora & Ariel Moreno, who were killed by Carabineros in 2020 during confrontations at a protest. Extreme clashes occurred with police throughout the night, although protesters mobilized in several locations.
